Mike Jones - The Voice : Review

The Voice, in fact Mike Jones' voice was kept on the low lately, but he's back to yell that he's still here. Who ? Mikes Jones. But the listening of The Voice is not what any Texas fan would expect. I put some high hopes on this album because I was pretty amazed by his former EP, The American Dream. But I guess the dream is over for me now, because Mike Jones delivers a painful and unoriginal effort. It might please some programs directors with some joints easy to ride to, but that doesn't work on me for this time.

Tech N9ne - Red Nose

This one of my favourite release of the moment, Tech N9ne new collabo CD "Sickology 101". And this is definitely one of the best cuts on the LP. Check out this video for the deep and meaningful song : "Red Nose".

Marky - Nothing Is 43ver : Review

Washington D.C. is a epicentre of "what's revolutionnary" right now. Yes, I am talking about President Barack Obama... and Yes, I am talking about Marky ! That's a very audacious parallel, isn't it ? But that's the kind of earth quake, I felt when I put my headphones on for Marky's Nothing is 43ver.

Marky, himself, breaks it down very well : DC has no particular musical influence. So he cooks up something new for the listener and paves the way to his own destiny : what he introduces as "The Sweet Taste Of Victory".

I don't want my words to mess up with your own imagination on this CD because sometimes I get barely objective when it comes to something I like. So I'm gonna stop talking and I'll let you make up your own mind about it. It's on free download right here ->

The Game & Snoop Dogg - On The Block

I've got the West Coast on (very) heavy rotation for a few weeks (months/years) in my iPod, so pardon my "non-stop West Coast posts". But once again, it's really worth it ! The Game & Snoop Dogg team up on a new track for the upcoming Don Cannon & DJ Skee mixtape, Made In America.

Daz Dillinger - Tell Me What You Got

A much better track off "Public Enemiez" but a cheapest video by Daz Dillinger.

Daz Dillinger - In My Neighborhood

New video from Daz Dillinger : "In My Neighborhood" off his upcoming album "Public Enemiez".

Butch Cassidy - Fast Car

Butch Cassidy is finally free to drop his first solo effort, "First & Last" (dropping next month !). And his first single (which will hopefully be his last auto-tune attempt - finger crossed) is a remake of Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car". As a big fan of B.C., this single is pretty trash. But I am gonna support Butch Cassidy because he really deserves it anyway.

Jay'Ton - Hood Wired Up (feat. J-Dawg & Lil Boss)

Easter kinda took me away from my blog... but I am back with one of my favourite artists : Jay'Ton who drops a new video. The track is off his upcoming mixtape "Got It By Tha Ton"

Willy Northpole - Hood Dreamer Featurin Bobby Ray (B.o.B.)

My statement of the day : this song is hot ! Don't sleep on it ! Phoenix and ATL, it's on. "Put your hands in the skyyyyyy"

Shawn Jay (Field Mob) - Underground Platinum

I told you about Chevy P, and now I am fully satisfied becauce Shawn Jay (the other half of Field Mob) is also dropping his own mixtape, "Underground Platinum". That's twice as much music from the Kentucky dirty duo. That's enough to please my demanding mp3 player.

Chevy P (Field Mob) - GrandMomma Tried Vol.1

I was skimming through my cd library the other to listen to my "From The Roota To The Toota" album, and after a disappointing album under the wings of Ludacris, I was hoping for some new Field Mob. Today, I am half satisfied, because one half of Field Mob dropped a new mixtape.

I am talking about Chevy P (formerly known as Smoke) with a very good mixtape, "GrandMomma Tried Vol.1". Let's hope that his GrandMa' will try a Vol.2. Courtesy of dirtyglovebastard.

Rich Boy - Pacc Man (Mixtape)

Rich Boy is hungry for fame, and he's gonna gobble success like "Pacc Man", hence the title of his new mixtape. And when Rich Boy drops new materials, it should always make the headlines (but it doesn't actually... that's bad). Courtesy of nahright.

Stat Quo - The Invisible Man

Stat Quo is shaping up ! He dropped in a few months more music than in a few years, and his latest contribution to the music industry is a new mixtape, "The Invisible Man". Maybe that's how he was looked upon when he was bound with Shady/Aftermath... who knows ?

Method Man & Redman - A-Yo (feat. Saukrates)

"Backout 2" is getting closer and closer. The dynamic duo, Meth' and Red, premieres his new video A-Yo.

Tha Eastsidaz - Gang Bang Muzic: Frequency Of The Streets

For all the West Coast heads that have been waiting for this 3rd album of Tha Eastsidaz, the time has comed to unveil this remastered version of "Gang Bang Muzic" that was meant to never surface. Indeed, it takes a miracle to make music when you got one of your boys (Tray Dee) convicted to 12 years behind bars ! Courtesy of youngthug23.

Hussein Fatal - They Don't Get It

Fatal Hussein who just released his new mixtape "Pain Muzik" puts out a lil freestyle on video. It's pretty dope !

Jadakiss - The Last Kiss : Review

The most romantic (by his albums name) rapper of the game, Jadakiss, throws his "Last Kiss" in hopes of offering us and himself the classic he deserves. Indeed, his first two efforts left a sour taste in our mouth, despite huge hits, because we all know Jada "sounds so good" and that he can do much better... (or maybe our brains are not ready).

The Last kiss starts very har like he unleashed a pitbull inside a kindergarten. You get so frantic you start mimicking Jada's guttural "Aaaaah", and you got the feeling that this album is gonna be huge. But then, "The Last Kiss" follows the footsteps of its predecessors, with tracks that are not so relevant and whose replay-value is pretty limited. However, we are talking about Jadakiss, right ? His lyrical push-ups keep on advertising us until the end of the album. A solid album that inequally satisfy us but which is definetely worth being on your "What I have to listen right now... and in a few months" list.

Trick Daddy - What Dey Do featuring BadGuy & Desloc

The Floridian rapper, Trick Daddy, is making moves. He's putting the final touches on his 8th album, "Finally Famous : Born A Thug, Die A Thug". Music heals wounded souls, so let's pray that it will also cure Trick Daddy from the cancer he has stopped taking medication for. Anyway, legends never die, but thugs do... hence that prophetical name for a new album, that we hope won't be his last. For the moment, enjoy his new song.

Eminem - We Made You : Video

Proof - No Hoes

First off, this is not new at all. But for a few hours now, I've been spending time in Big Proof's pantheon, listening to some of his best cuts and to some unknown stuff, like this song "No Hoes", that I wanted to share with you folks. R.I.P. Deshaun Holton aka Big Proof !

Asher Roth - Perfectionist Featuring Beanie Sigel & Rock City

The hype is huge about Asher Roth right now but I've just started to get acquainted with his music, yeah I'm kinda slow or reluctant when it comes to mass hysteria about one artist. I wasn't fond of "Lark On My Go-Kart", but I have to admit that this new song is pure heat with an amazing B.Sig'. Enough said...

Young Life - My Life

This song doesn't stand out by its musical originality but there is a nice vibe. I leave you make your own opinion about this Compton kid named Young Life.

Mims - Guilt : Review

In 2007, Mims explained us why he was hot, and in 2009, "Guilt" tries to claim he stills is - or just is. So does the Washington Heigths rapper live up to the low expectations that many had about him, the so-called one-hit wonder ?

To be honest, I liked his first album mainly because it meant something special to me. Indeed, "This is why I'm hot" was the first song I heard on the radio when I traveled first to NYC. And I am the kind of guy who cares about these little details of life. So I was eager to listen to some new Mims materials.

I inserted "Guilt" in my computer cd player, pressed play and started this journey into the unexpected. I skipped the first two tracks, which we usually call fillers, and whose lifetime is inferior to 1 or 2 plays. But then "On And On" appeared, and this catchy song was about to shatter my apprehension about "Guilt". So I was like : "How is gonna be track #4? A-a new banger or B-a girly-nappy R'n'B joint ?" Mims gave the answer B. I was about to give credit to Mims' haters until I reached track #6 (I didn't feel his single "Move" neither). "One Day" was the right shift to Mims epic story and "Chasing Sunshine" just nailed it.

"Guilt" is an inconstant effort but when it comes to hot tracks, Mims knows his thing. He makes them reach another dimension, and also thanks to smart collaborations. Anyway, don't sleep on this album because it is kinda hot.

DJ Quik & Kurupt - Hey Playa!

Don't listen to weather forecasts, Summer is already here thanks to the West Coast vets DJ Quik & Kurupt whose common project, "Blaqkout" is due June 9th (and they seemed to have fun recording it). This new track "Hey Playa!" is damn catchy. Now all I need is a beach and a pinacolada.

Eminem talking about "We Made You"

It's getting hard to wait...

Chamillionaire Feat. J.Holiday - Relax

"Chamillitary Mayne", that's the 2 words that pop to my mind everytime I come across something about the Texas rapper. And my latest finding is this new song.

Nipsey Hussle - All My Life

I guess you know now that when it comes to Nipsey Hu$$le, I gotta post it... enjoy this video of Nipsey reversing Jay Rock's single "All My Life".

D.O.E. - The Fall (feat. D.V. Alias Khryst)

D.O.E. (Dominate Over Everyone), Timbo's new protégé, dropped last year one of my favorite mixtape of 2008, "The Fall Of John Doe, The Rise Of D.O.E", and this song was among the best cuts, so I am sure you'll fall for it too (nice wordplay).

Marky - Nothing is 43ever

The wait is over, because Marky's "Nothing is 43ever" is now avaible on free download. So what the hell are you doing now ? Go download it !

or

Mikes Jones - Swagger Right Now

We are still in Texas with this video, the brand new Mike "I am skinny now" Jones single "Swagger Right Now". I didn't like he his music at first, except that "Still Tippin" joint, but since his latest EP, I think he keeps improving.

Jay'Ton feat Trae & Yung Quis - We Here

I told you Jay'Ton would drop bombs. And the first deflagration is this banger "We Here" featuring his brother Trae and Young Quis. Enough with that chitchat, press play.

Eminem, see you on tuesday

"We're the ones that made you... Tuesday." on twitter.

Marky - Delusional

In a few weeks or months (or whenever you want), you'll find yourself saying "Did you hear about that Washington DC kid named Marky ? - Damn, his music hot, take my headphones and listen". I'm saying that, but that's exactly what happened to me when I was with my cousin earlier. And that's what I am doing right now.

His mini-album, "Nothing is 43ver" (tracklisting above) will be out really soon... let's say Friday ! You're lucky, you won't have to wait long . For now, just press play :

D12 On Tour

You like D-Twizzy ? They are touring Europe and they are going to perform around the globe during the next few weeks.

Follow their international trip here (thanks RapBasement.com), with some exclusive footages from to their special reporter : Rondell Beene.

Rich Boy - It's Over

Rich Boy is one of these artists who hardly disappoint me. He dropped his debut album in 2007, I liked it, he dropped his mixtape "Bigger Than The Mayor" in 2008, and i liked it. So you guess how I feel about this track.

Young Dro - Dro Rock Diamonds

He made your "shoulder lean" and now he's about to make your head nodd on his new joint... I am talking about Young Dro with "Dro Rock Diamonds". You gotta like this !

UGK - UGK 4 Life : Review

It was a sunny day (or not) in Port Arthur, TX, in 1987 when Chad Butler (Pimp C) and Bernard Freeman (Bun B) decided to form Underground Kingz. They wanted to tell their own stories but they ended up writing one of hip hop's biggest legacy, UGK, 22 years later. But in the meantime, Pimp C died tragically, not far from the stars, in a hotel room in Hollywood.

But after all, could this story, sorry legacy, have a happy ending ? We have a straight answer with their ultimate album, "UGK 4 Life". For all their fans, it will always sound like a never-ending encore, with Pimp C & Bun B at their finest. And we probably feel this way because UGK's biggest fan overviewed the whole project, and yes I am talking about Bun B. Now UGK will definitely be 4 Life, and yes it was a sunny day for us in 1987 in Port Arthur.
