Marky - Nothing Is 43ver : Review

Washington D.C. is a epicentre of "what's revolutionnary" right now. Yes, I am talking about President Barack Obama... and Yes, I am talking about Marky ! That's a very audacious parallel, isn't it ? But that's the kind of earth quake, I felt when I put my headphones on for Marky's Nothing is 43ver.

Marky, himself, breaks it down very well : DC has no particular musical influence. So he cooks up something new for the listener and paves the way to his own destiny : what he introduces as "The Sweet Taste Of Victory".

I don't want my words to mess up with your own imagination on this CD because sometimes I get barely objective when it comes to something I like. So I'm gonna stop talking and I'll let you make up your own mind about it. It's on free download right here ->

Method Man & Redman - A-Yo (feat. Saukrates)

"Backout 2" is getting closer and closer. The dynamic duo, Meth' and Red, premieres his new video A-Yo.

Asher Roth - Perfectionist Featuring Beanie Sigel & Rock City

The hype is huge about Asher Roth right now but I've just started to get acquainted with his music, yeah I'm kinda slow or reluctant when it comes to mass hysteria about one artist. I wasn't fond of "Lark On My Go-Kart", but I have to admit that this new song is pure heat with an amazing B.Sig'. Enough said...

Mims - Guilt : Review

In 2007, Mims explained us why he was hot, and in 2009, "Guilt" tries to claim he stills is - or just is. So does the Washington Heigths rapper live up to the low expectations that many had about him, the so-called one-hit wonder ?

To be honest, I liked his first album mainly because it meant something special to me. Indeed, "This is why I'm hot" was the first song I heard on the radio when I traveled first to NYC. And I am the kind of guy who cares about these little details of life. So I was eager to listen to some new Mims materials.

I inserted "Guilt" in my computer cd player, pressed play and started this journey into the unexpected. I skipped the first two tracks, which we usually call fillers, and whose lifetime is inferior to 1 or 2 plays. But then "On And On" appeared, and this catchy song was about to shatter my apprehension about "Guilt". So I was like : "How is gonna be track #4? A-a new banger or B-a girly-nappy R'n'B joint ?" Mims gave the answer B. I was about to give credit to Mims' haters until I reached track #6 (I didn't feel his single "Move" neither). "One Day" was the right shift to Mims epic story and "Chasing Sunshine" just nailed it.

"Guilt" is an inconstant effort but when it comes to hot tracks, Mims knows his thing. He makes them reach another dimension, and also thanks to smart collaborations. Anyway, don't sleep on this album because it is kinda hot.

D.O.E. - The Fall (feat. D.V. Alias Khryst)

D.O.E. (Dominate Over Everyone), Timbo's new protégé, dropped last year one of my favorite mixtape of 2008, "The Fall Of John Doe, The Rise Of D.O.E", and this song was among the best cuts, so I am sure you'll fall for it too (nice wordplay).

Marky - Nothing is 43ever

The wait is over, because Marky's "Nothing is 43ever" is now avaible on free download. So what the hell are you doing now ? Go download it !

or

Marky - Delusional

In a few weeks or months (or whenever you want), you'll find yourself saying "Did you hear about that Washington DC kid named Marky ? - Damn, his music hot, take my headphones and listen". I'm saying that, but that's exactly what happened to me when I was with my cousin earlier. And that's what I am doing right now.

His mini-album, "Nothing is 43ver" (tracklisting above) will be out really soon... let's say Friday ! You're lucky, you won't have to wait long . For now, just press play :

French Montana - New York Minute (featuring Jadakiss)

You don't have the right to skip that track. French Montana & Jadakiss deliver great verses for a great track. This is typically the NYC music I like, from the sample to the flows, everything just fits.

Camp Lo - On Smash / '89 of Crime (feat. Styles P)

Let's get this beautiful day starting with a hot track served on a nice black & white video (which previews 2 tracks). The beat is verry addictive... "Meanie meanie meanie meanie meanie" !

Method Man - Freestyle

Tical is back at it with a raw 16 bars he dropped on G-Unit Radio. Enjoy !

Jay-Z - Maybe (No Tags)

Our boy Hov' is back in the building with a new (short length) track, "Maybe". I read somewhere this was a leftover of "American Gangster", I am not sure... so maybe, maybe not.

The track has been circulation with tags, but here is the untagged version.

Jim Jones - Pray IV Reign : Review

I really like the cover of this album, by the way.

Sticky Fingaz - No Swagger

Sticky Fingaz is cooking something new... a new album ? Like a new album entitled "StickyFingaz.com" ? Yup !

The single "No Swagger" leaked a month ago, but I kinda lost track of Sticky and the Onyx crew until I attended their concert yesterday. So thanks to the goldmine onyxdomain.com, I've found this :

Joe Budden - In My Sleep

In the industry, new single = new video so here is Joe Budden's creation for his track "In My Sleep" off his album "Padded Room".

It's not the best track of the album, but it's definitely worth listening since Joe Budden is one of the best lyricist in the game right now.

Elohim Marino - I Am An Addict

Elohim Marino is an addict, and I am addicted to his music since his album "The Son Of Hip Hop", one slept-on album which may be one of the most memorable indie releases over the past years.

But the Queens based rapper is working slowly on a come back and is offering his new mixtape for free, which is entitled "I Am An Addict".

DJ Drama & Cookin Soul - Tribute To The Notorious B.I.G.

It's been 12 years since he... 12 years that The Notorious B.I.G. has been staying in our hearts. And to remind us of this musical phenomenon, the production trio Cookin Soul teamed up with DJ Drama to cook this mixtape : The Notorious B.I.G. Tribute.

But it's not "One more biggie tribute" :
this concept mixtape gathers most of the hottest MCs in the game with some old-time Biggie's friends rapping over some of his legendary tracks.
