There are different 2 types of rappers : Those who come from nowhere and go straight to the top thanks to one great (or not) single or a clever collab, and there are talented guys who've been in the game for years and who hussle their way to the top. Boo Rossini is this 2nd type of rapper.
After many years of rapping, local recognition, 5 indie albums, 1 failed deal with Interscope, he's still here doing his thang, hoping to grasp success. But his day is about to come... Just listen to his latest mixtape "Feed The Streets", and you'll feel the same way about him too.

You don't have the right to skip that track. French Montana & Jadakiss deliver great verses for a great track. This is typically the NYC music I like, from the sample to the flows, everything just fits.

The new single from UGK, "Da Game Been Good To Me" has been clipped. This is my favorite joint off the album, but somehow it makes me kinda melancholic... no more UGK nor Pimp C. Indeed, that would weaken anybody's heart.

"Ladies & Gentleman, we are arriving at Phoenix, AZ, the sun is shining, temperature's very warm and there's a fucking new rap talent named Trap. Make sure you get all your belongings before you leave the aircraft. Thank you and press play !"
Until today, the only rappers I knew from Phoenix (which is a city I really love) were MC Magic and his folks from the NB Ridaz. Now I can say, I know them + Trap. Before that, I had made a few researches about the Phoenix rap scene without finding any interesting flows, even though I was convinced there were some undiscovered talents out there. I guess Trap was one of them, but he succesfully made his way through our ears.
Make sure you download his mixtape which is avaible on free download. It made a very huge impression on me, and on some other 40,000 people (according to Trap's myspace). The future's defenitely here !
Here is a sample, so you can make your own mind first.

New remix for the intergalactic banger "I Run" (yeah, I really like that song) with some new talents, confirmed talents and the veteran E-40. They should blend that one with the former remix with Chamillionaire and Z-Ro, that would make a stratospheric hit !

Our boy Hov' is back in the building with a new (short length) track, "Maybe". I read somewhere this was a leftover of "American Gangster", I am not sure... so maybe, maybe not.
The track has been circulation with tags, but here is the untagged version.

The Texas boy, Paul Wall will release his 7th album (yep already), "The Fast Life" on May 12th. The lead single is "Bizzy Bone", and you can watch the video right now.
I'm kinda disappointed with this track... not really outstanding.

Trae has a sovietic state of mind these days... producing music non-stop. One month after the collab cd with Rob G, "Both Sides Of The Fence", which is really worth it by the way, we got this new track with the Yellow Bus Boy, Mistah Fab. And the resultat is just as good.
I will write a bigger post about that cd with Rob G soon, because it doesn't deserve to be slept on like that.

You must have ticked the date of April 7th on your calendar if you like Finale (his album "A Pipe Dream And A Promise" release date), but get ready for a new mixtape, "T.I.M.E.", by your favorite or not Detroit rapper. It will be out in a few days, before the album release, and here is a preview track :

Eminem's video for his brand new single "We Made You" (produced by Dr. Dre) will supposedly be broadcasted April 7th. And the buzz has been growing even more since these pictures of the shooting leaked. For those who still wonder, 50 Cent is only making a cameo.
The record itself should be out anytime soon so "keep your ears glued to the stereo" !

"Bubba ? Why have you been hiding for so long ?" That's the question I asked myself when I found this track. I've always liked Bubba so I'm glad he's making some new tracks, or at least one. Let's face it, it is not an outstanding song but still pretty decent.

Back in '88, Jazzy Jeff & Will Smith dropped "He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper". But today, Classified is the modern definition of the One-Man Band, because he is the DJ and the Rapper. Thus, the rapper creates his own musical universe and invites the listener to travel with him from Canada to unknown places. And unlike some top-notch rappers, he won't brag about all the "I am big right now" producers who work on his album. He stands all alone on the edge of the cliff.
Classified is gifted behind his MPC rack, but he also is behind the mic. So you won't feel like a hungry kid who can't eat everything in the cookie jar. This album has everything to feed your musical appetite. "Choose Your Own Adventure", which is the running-gag-song of the album, is self explanatory of what this record is : innovative & original. You can't get bored listening to it. Everything is well-thought, even though, in my opinion it falls short of real bangers (my beatmaker friends would kill me for saying that).
It's hard to be young and talented, but it's even harder to keep up the pace of high valued releases. Classified rose to this double challenge, which is the least that a schyzophrenic musician could do.

There's always something new and impressive on the West Coast right now, and I won't complain since I am a big fan of that sunny California.
Today's big act is Pacific Division with their "PacDiv EP" (iTunes link). A really valuable EP with (only) 3 great tracks. It sounds like old school with a new breezy touch of that 21th century. I wish the summer was already here so I could bump it in my car with my windows down and my sunglasses... not caring about if I run over a baby.

You may not be familiar with this face (ok we don't see much with this Ghanaian bandana), but you may already know him if you (phisically or musically) crossed the Atlantic. His name his Sway, Sway Dasafo to be accurate, and he is from London, in the United Kingdom. Yes sir !
I am really fond of this UK rap. I don't know much about it though to be honest, but every time I peep one of their artists (like Kano or Akala), it's never a disapointment. And Sway could be the icing on the cake.
This guy has mad skills and his latest (and 2nd) effort, "The Signature LP" is a must have for all hip hop fans. It's been out for a few months now, but it's never too late for good music and good rhyming.

D12 is coming soon with a new mixtape "Return Of The Dozen Vol. 2", the second project since Proof's tragic death.
The first leak is a record by 2 Fat MCs, Bizarre and King Gordy (who has a new solo project on the way too : "King Of Horrorcore Vol.2"). As a big Detroit fan, it's a real pleasure to share this track.
To give a very comprehensive news, those 2 guys have formed a group, The Davidians, and are supposed to release a project sometimes soon... as you can read above.

If you wondered a few weeks ago if Crooked I was still breathing after the dramatic shooting scene he was involved in, he has a blunt answer to give you : "I Am Still A MC". And he's too humble to admit it so I'ma tell you : he's the B.O.S.S.
Indeed, that's the name of his upcoming album that he'll will leak for free on the Internet very soon. Check out his first single :

I want to introduce you to a band, from California, that would deserve to be under the spotlights : Ankore.
I met them... In fact, I did met Akili Shine (one of the 3 members) on Venice Beach, like a year ago, while he was selling his CDs. I was one of his satisfied customer (money back guaranteed). From this day, their cd has always been around my cd player.
Their blend of true Hip-Hop and smooth R'n'B is a delight for the ears. And they do have a message behind their music.
The title of the album is "The People Said...", in reference to all the racism and violence that were not supposed to happen again... but it did.

In the industry, new single = new video so here is Joe Budden's creation for his track "In My Sleep" off his album "Padded Room".

Ok, it's kinda old (2008) but I've just discovered Lucky Luciano. I was looking for some music, and some guy had this track in a player on his blog.
I am a big fan of the H-Town rap scene, which I've been following for yeaaars but shame on me, it's the first time I hear of that guy. The only latino MC I knew from Houston was Chingo Bling. Now I know 2 (ahah)...

I heard about Treal when they released their album "Crunk Tested And Approved" in 2006, which I thought was their first, until I read they formed in 2000 ! (I got a lot of music to catch up now...)
Anyway, 2 years and a lot of music later, I stumbled upon their new jam "Goin Slap Off", which they've just released. And I'm just like, it feels good to have them back. It gives so much energy you wanna... SLAP OFF !
